Bareburger, the famous organic burger chain, opened a little over a month in Hoboken, following the path of Boardwalk Fresh Burgers and Fries. It definitely starts to be crowded on Washington street, if we take into account not only these two restaurants, but also Five Guys and the multiple bars that serve signature burgers. 

Decor wise, you have the impression you are in a cabin in the woods, hopefully protected from the bears.

The menu in Hoboken differs slightly from the other restaurants, with items like the Sprouts and Roots salad that did not satisfy us:

Made with Brussels sprouts, smoked tempeh, wasabi carrot slaw, wild mushrooms, crispy lotus roots and sesame dressing. This was a bit boring and would be ok for a side rather than a main dish. However, their buttermilk buffalo sandwich was very good, even better than the burger they serve.

It was made with crispy buffalo fried chicken, amish blue, buttermilk ranch, lettuce, on a brioche bun.

This was delicious, the buffalo sauce being slightly spicy, but perfect with the generous amount of blue cheese. The chicken was crispy and perfectly cooked, not dry fortunately.

Of course, we also tried the burgers there, Jodi option for the black bean patty, aged cheddar, pickles and whole wheat bun, with a side of guacamole.

And me, building a beef patty, aged cheddar, sautéed mushrooms, on a brioche bun.

The burgers were good, but I definitely prefer Boardwalk or Five Guys, where the meat is tastier. We also tried their onion rings and fries.

Their onion rings are decent, but I definitely do not like the fries. I do not know how they prepare them, but there is an off taste. Too bad: I love fries with my burger!

So, I am not sure what to think about Bareburger: there are so many options in Hoboken for a good burger that it would not be on top of my list, except if I want to eat some other meat like elk, ostrich, goat or wild boar. However, their buttermilk buffalo sandwich is worth the trip!
