Afternoon tea at The Plaza Hotel in NYC

The Plaza Hotel in NYC

It’s been a while since we wanted to try the afternoon tea at The Plaza Hotel in New York City: this is a must do, although pricey. We went on a Monday I was off and it was perfect: not too many people, quiet, the way I like! It was our first time at The Plaza and the doorman made sure we had a good reason to get in: you are either a patron or a guest to enter in this iconic place that is stunning, especially in this time of the year, dressed with Holiday decorations.

The high tea is served at The Clam Court, the dining room right across from the entrance. We got a great spot on one side of the dining room that allowed us to sit next to each other. An afternoon tea is typically composed of tea (of course), sandwiches, sweets and scones. Everything comes on a three tier tray, allowing you to chose the order you want to eat. We decided to go for their Signature Holiday Tea.

I chose an Icy Mint tea, while Jodi got an English Breakfast tea called “Big Ben”.

Overall, we had a wonderful time: the service was very courteous, as you would expect in such place, and the food not only being beautifully presented, but also being delicious and delicate. Looking at the portion, you may think it is not enough, but it is. I should mentioned that it was not stuffy, clearly a different experience compared to when we had afternoon tea at Bergdorf Goodman across the street before COVID.

For $125 per person, having an afternoon tea at The Plaza is definitely an unforgettable experience!

Enjoy (I did)!
